Richard Waugh, former president and current CEO of Bank of Nova Scotia, has been named an officer of the Order of Canada. He was recognized for his efforts in strengthening the banking sector in Canada. Waugh was among 91 recipients of the award, given by Governor-General David Johnston for long-standing service and achievements. Waugh stepped down as the bank’s president at the end of October 2012. Brian Porter replaced in him that position. The Order of Canada was established by Queen Elizabeth II in 1967.
