Federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty has appointed Annette Verschuren as the new chairwoman of the Venture Capital Expert Panel. Verschuren was already a member of the panel, which was established in May 2013 to advance key elements of the federal government’s Venture Capital Action Plan, a strategy meant to improve financing for Canada’s venture- capital (VC) sector. Her extensive experience in the business community and VC sector includes time spent as chairwoman and CEO of Toronto-based NRStor Inc., which focuses on accelerating the commercialization of energy-storage technologies.
