Toronto-based GMP Capital Inc. has announced the retirement of board chairman Stanley Beck, effective May 4, the date of GMP’s annual meeting. The firm also announced it intends to name Donald Wright, president and CEO of Toronto-based Winnington Capital Group Inc., as Beck’s successor following Wright’s re-election to the board. Wright has been an independent member of GMP’s board since 2004. He has more than 30 years of experience in financial services, having been president of Toronto-based Merrill Lynch Canada Inc.; executive vice president, director and board member of Burns Fry Ltd. (now part of BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc.); and chairman and CEO of TD Securities Inc.
