Toronto-based Waratah Capital Advisors Ltd. introduced its first liquid alternative fund in September: Waratah Alternative Equity Income Fund.
This actively managed fund is long-biased and invests in North American equities with a focus on Canada.
The fund is designed for advisors with high net-worth clients and will use options and short positions to manage risk.
There are no advisor commissions for front-end sales for F-class units.
However, there is a short-term trading fee of up to 2% and a redesignation fee of up to 2%.
The management fee is 1.25% for F-class units and the portfolio manager is paid a quarterly performance fee. The minimum investment is $5,000.
