Toronto-based CI Investments Inc. has launched two funds with monthly distribution payouts. Cambridge Income Fund seeks returns through a mix of fixed-income and higher-yielding equities securities. Robert Swanson of Cambridge Advisors is the fund’s lead portfolio manager. Signature High Yield Bond Fund seeks exposure to high-yield corporate bonds. Geof Marshall of Signature Global Advisors is the fund’s lead portfolio manager. For both funds, advisor commissions for front-end sales are 0%-5%; for deferred sales, 5%; or 2% for the low-load option. Redemption fees begin at 5.5% in Year 1 and end at zero after Year 7 for the regular DSC schedule, or begin at 3% in Year 1 and end at zero after Year 3 for the low-load schedule. For Cambridge Income Fund, trailing commissions are up to 1% for front-end sales, up to 0.5% for deferred sales and up to 0.5% for low-load sales. Management fees are 1.9% for A-class units and 0.9% for F-class units. For Signature High Yield Bond Fund, trailing commissions are up to 0.75% for front-end sales, up to 0.3% for the first seven years of deferred sales and up to 0.75% thereafter, and 0.3% for the first three years of low-load sales and up to 0.75% thereafter. Management fees are 1.7% for A-class units and 0.85% for F-class units. For both funds, minimum investment is $500.

Franklin Templeton launches balanced fund

Toronto-based Franklin Templeton Investments Corp. has added a new product to its lineup of Canadian balanced funds. Bissett Strategic Income Fund aims to generate income and long-term capital appreciation by investing primarily in both Canadian and foreign equities and fixed-income securities. The fund’s equities component focuses on high-dividend-paying Canadian equities, while the fixed-income portion of the portfolio seeks high-yield returns through Canadian and international multi-sector securities. The fund is co-managed by Leslie Lindquist and Tom O’Gorman. Advisor commissions for front-end sales are 0%-6%; 5% for deferred sales; or 2.5% for the low-load option. Redemption fees begin at 6% in Year 1 and end at zero after Year 6 for the regular DSC schedule, or begin at 3% in Year 1 and end at zero after Year 3 of the low-load schedule. Trailing commissions are 1% for front-end sales, 0.5% for the first six years of deferred sales and 1% thereafter, and 0.5% for the first three years of low-load sales and 1% thereafter. Management fees are 1.85% for A-class units and 0.85% for F-class units. Minimum investment is $500.

New monthly income fund from Brandes

Toronto-based Brandes Investment Partners & Co. has introduced a new fund for conservative investors. Brandes Sionna Monthly Income Fund seeks to provide risk management when markets are down, and potential for capital appreciation. Its target asset allocation is 60% Canadian equities and 40% fixed-income securities, and it aims for an annual payout of 4%. The fund’s subadvisors are Toronto-based Sionna Investment Managers Inc. for the equity component and Boston-based State Street Global Advisors Ltd. for the fixed-income portion of the portfolio. Advisor commissions for front-end sales are 0%-5%, 5% for deferred sales or 2% for the low-load option. Redemption fees begin at 5.5% in Year 1 and end at zero after Year 7 for the regular DSC schedule, or begin at 3% in Year 1 and end at zero after Year 3 of the low-load schedule. Trailing commissions are 1% for front-end sales, 0.5% for the first seven years of deferred sales or 1% thereafter, and 0.5% for the first three years of low-load sales and 1% thereafter. Management fees are up to 1.8% for A-class units and up to 0.8% for F-class units. Minimum investment is $1,000.

Corporate class at RBC Global AM

Toronto-based RBC Global Asset Management Inc. has launched corporate-class structures for selected RBC funds and Phillips, Hager & North Investment Management funds. RBC Corporate Class Funds offer investors a tax-efficient ability to switch and rebalance investments, reduced taxable distributions and tax-efficient bond investing. The lineup includes: RBC Short Term Income Class, PH&N Total Return Bond Capital Class, RBC High Yield Bond Capital Class, RBC Canadian Dividend Class, RBC Canadian Equity Class, RBC Canadian Equity Income Class, RBC Canadian Mid Cap Equity Class, RBC North American Value Class, RBC U.S. Equity Class, PH&N U.S. Multi-Style All-Cap Equity Class, PH&N Overseas Equity Class, RBC Emerging Markets Equity Class and RBC Global Resources Class.
