Montreal-based Gestion Férique Inc. has appointed UBS Global Asset Management (Canada) Co. as investment advisor of Férique European Fund, effective immediately. The fund, which has $62 million in assets, has suffered “disappointing” returns since its inception in June 2003, and needed a manager whose investment style would result in less volatility for unitholders, the firm says. “UBS was selected mainly because of its core investment style with no strong bias, its rigorous investment process, the depth and quality of its research, its advanced proprietary risk-management system and consistency of returns,” says Manon Duhamel, director of marketing and communications at Gestion Férique. UBS replaces Nordea Investment Management — North America.
