Burlington, Ont.-based AIC Ltd. plans to eliminate the performance fee for AIC American Focused Plus Fund. Launched in 2001, the fund has had a performance fee equal to 20% of the increase in the net asset value attributable to each class of units of the fund in any calendar year. The fee was split equally between advisors and AIC. The company has waived its portion of the fee, but will continue to pay advisors any applicable performance fees until Dec. 31, 2005 (to be paid in January 2006), after which the fee will be eliminated entirely. “Today’s action highlights AIC’s commitment to delivering performance and attractive investment solutions to help Canadians achieve their financial goals,” AIC’s chief investment officer Jonathan Wellum said in a news release. “With the elimination of its performance fee, AIC American Focused Plus Fund is better positioned to attain and maintain performance leadership.”
