Toronto-based Invesco Canada Ltd. has added two ETFs to its product lineup. PowerShares S&P 500 High Dividend Low Volatility Index ETF is designed to replicate the performance of the S&P 500 low-volatility high-dividend index. PowerShares S&P Global ex-Canada High Dividend Low Volatility Index ETF, meanwhile, is meant to replicate the S&P global 1200 ex-Canada low-volatility high-dividend index. Both ETFs’ objectives are to provide dividend income to investors, along with potential appreciation of stock prices. To achieve these goals, both ETFs invest in liquid, high-yielding equities from within their respective indices. The ETFs also are screened for volatility, based on the standard deviation of price returns over the previous one-year trading period.
