Toronto-based Invesco Canada Ltd. has announced that Rex Chong, who had been on a six-month sabbatical, will not return and has resigned from his position. Anthony Imbesi, Alfred Samson and Gary Lew will continue to manage the fixed-income mandates for the company. All three portfolio managers had worked closely with Chong over the past 10 years and are longtime members of the fixed-income team. They have been integral in constructing Invesco Canada’s fixed-income portfolio strategy and will work with the firm’s global fixed-income team, which has particular expertise in corporate credit, high-yield and bank loans. Imbesi joined Invesco Canada in 1999 and was promoted to portfolio manager in 2002; he has more than two decades of progressive experience managing fixed-income securities, including nine years managing a $4-billion portfolio of publicly traded bonds. Samson has 15 years experience in the industry and joined Invesco Canada in 2005. Lew has nine years of investment-management experience and joined Invesco Canada in 2002; he was promoted to portfolio manager in 2009.
