Toronto-based Dynamic Funds, a division of 1832 Asset Management LP, has expanded its fund lineup with the addition of Dynamic U.S. Sector Focus Class. This fund seeks to achieve long-term appreciation by investing primarily in a focused number of U.S. sectors from the S&P 500 composite index’s GICS sectors through investments in ETFs or in fixed-income securities, cash and cash equivalents. The fund’s allocation follows a proprietary methodology that focuses on price momentum, price persistence and market breadth metrics to select systematically a concentrated set of sectors that the portfolio manager believes to be favourable. The fund also may eliminate its entire equities exposure and become invested in fixed-income or cash for downside protection during downmarkets. Myles Zyblock, global portfolio strategist and chief investment strategist with Dynamic Funds, will manage the new fund by using a rules-based approach to investing in the U.S. equities market.
