Richard Nadeau, senior vp of Toronto Stock Exchange, will lead the latest trip to China, from November 6 – 20.
Nadeau will hold a series of meetings and seminars across China with the aim of raising awareness of Canada’s capital markets and attracting international listings. He will also be a speaker at the China Mining Conference.
This trip, which will focus on Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai, will showcase the strengths of Canada’s capital markets among Chinese companies. TSX representatives will meet with Chinese advisors and intermediaries who help service Chinese companies seeking access to Canadian capital markets.
“We see the importance of this region to our international strategy and these events help us explain the benefits of our marketplace to hundreds of potential listing candidates,” said Nadeau, in a news release. “It takes time to build relationships with Chinese issuers and now we’re starting to see the positive outcomes,” he added. “Our credibility is really starting to be recognized and it shows by number of issuers that are getting listed.”
Currently, there are 18 Chinese-related listings on TSX and another 34 Chinese-related listings on TSX Venture Exchange.
This is TSX’s second trip to China this year. This trip is in conjunction with a number of sponsors including RBC Capital Markets, Research Capital Corporation, BMO, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, PWC, Blakes LLP, Lang Michener LLP and McCarthy Tetrault.
