TSX Group Inc. today announced its Datalinx market data distribution service will carry order and trade data from Chi-X Canada, an alternative stock trading system to be launched next year by Instinet.

Instinet, owned by Nomura Holdings Inc. of Japan, is aiming for a first-quarter start of Chi-X, which will compete for equity trading volume against the TSX, promising low cost and high transaction speeds.

The Chi-X Canada feed will use TSX proprietary messaging formats, enabling securities dealers and market data distributors to handle the data with existing systems.

“TSX Datalinx is pleased to provide market data distribution services to Instinet’s Chi-X Canada,” said Eric Sinclair, senior vp of TSX Datalinx, in a news release.

“We are committed to providing multiple sources of information to the marketplace.”
