The TMX Group (TSX:X) announced Monday it will distribute trading data across the U.S. and Europe on the New York Stock Exchange network under a new agreement aimed at driving more buying and selling on Canadian markets.

NYSE Euronext Inc. will carry TMX trading data on its high-speed Secure Financial Transaction Infrastructure network, which already links 1,300 parties to exchanges and markets in the U.S. and Europe.

TMX group said the data technology and distribution agreement will increase the global availability of Canadian market data and will also provide TMX clients with enhanced international market data.

“Our arrangement with NYSE Technologies enhances our ability to deliver innovative and world class data consolidation and connectivity solutions for the Canadian capital markets,” said Tom Kloet, chief executive officer of TMX Group.

TMX Group employs 845 people across its organization, and operates the Toronto Stock Exchange as well as several other markets including the TSX Venture Exchange, Montreal Exchange, Natural Gas Exchange and Boston Options Exchange.

Its principle activities are to provide electronic, screen-based equity securities market information.
