Quebec Minister of Finance Michel Audet announced that certain measures announced in this year’s federal budget also would be incorporated into Quebec’s tax legislation.

These measures include the introduction of a maximum deduction of $500 for tradespeople’s tool expenses, the exemption of the capital gain attributable to gifts of publicly listed securities and gifts of ecologically sensitive property, the increase from $200 to $500 of the deduction for depreciation at a rate of 100% for tools, and the introduction of relief measures similar to those allowed for agricultural property applicable to capital gains on fishing property.

Audet also announced other fiscal measures, including the eligibility of a new category of organizations — those operating in the community media sector – to issue receipts for donations, and the rise to $750,000 of the maximum amount that may be claimed regarding a show eligible for the tax credit for the production of shows.
