Perimeter Financial Corp. and TSX Group Inc. announced today a new feature to be launched by Perimeter that will provide inter-market access/connectivity between Perimeter’s BlockBook marketplace and the central limit order book of Toronto Stock Exchange.
With the introduction of the new “Melting” functionality by Perimeter, orders entered into BlockBook have the ability to be routed via a TSX participating organization to match with displayed orders residing in the TSX order book at an equivalent price. Use of this new functionality is expected to result in enhanced executions for BlockBook customers by reducing the risk of missing a contra order on TSX. BlockBook orders routed to TSX will be subject to all TSX trading rules.
This is expected to be the first inter-market access/connectivity in Canada and shows how both TSX Group and Perimeter Financial are committed to facilitating best execution requirements in Canada. Perimeter’s “Melting” feature will allow large orders to remain active in BlockBook while automatically accessing any displayed liquidity on TSX. As a result, traders will no longer have to choose between the potential of a large execution on BlockBook and the displayed liquidity on TSX. A pilot group of BlockBook participants is expected to begin testing this new functionality throughout the balance of the summer, with full rollout scheduled for September 2007.
“We are pleased to be launching inter-market access/connectivity with Toronto Stock Exchange,” said Doug Steiner, CEO of Perimeter Financial Corp., in a news release. “This is an important step in creating an integrated experience for all investors, whether large institutions, professional traders or smaller, retail investors. Our goal with BlockBook is to continually look for ways to provide our clients with improved trading performance. Perimeter believes in best execution and this effort with Toronto Stock Exchange again shows this commitment to all of our clients.”
“We are very pleased to be part of the launch of this innovative new product by Perimeter”, said Richard Nesbitt, CEO of TSX Group Inc. “We look forward to working with Perimeter in other ways to further enhance the competitiveness of the Canadian capital markets.”
