A regular seat on the New York Stock Exchange sold for less than US$1 million today, the first time a seat has gone for less than $1 million since October 1995.

The NYSE said that a seat sold for US$975,000, down US$25,000 from the previous regular seat sale on Jan. 10, 2005.

The exchange said that the market for a seat is now: bid at US$950,000, and offered at US$1,150,000.
