The Calgary Stampede is coming to the New York Stock Exchange on Friday June 17.

The leaders of five Alberta-based, NYSE-listed companies will be ringing the opening bell on that day, while Alberta premier Ralph Klein and Stampede officials will be on hand to ring the closing bell.

The participating executives are: Gordon Kerr, CEO Enerplus Resources Fund; Francis Saville, chairman Nexen Inc.; Hank Swartout, chairman president and CEO Precision Drilling Corporation; Harold Milavsky, chairman PrimeWest Energy Trust; and, Steven Snyder, president CEO & director TransAlta Corporation.

Also planned is a parade in front of the NYSE of 24 cowboys and cowgirls riding on horseback, a world champion native hoop dancer, Royal Canadian Mounted Police and authentic western entertainers.

Entertainment will also be broadcast live via satellite on a jumbotron outside the NYSE from Calgary, where the Stampede is hosting its annual media launch.

The NYSE has 78 listed companies from Canada, including 19 from Alberta.
