BMO Capital Markets is planning to donate a day’s worth of trading commissions to a variety of educational charities.
The investment and corporate banking arm of BMO Financial Group (TSX:BMO) is hosting its seventh annual North American Equity Through Education trading day on Tuesday, October 4, which will see it donate the institutional equity trading commissions that it earns in the United States and Canada to eight charitable organizations “that seek to improve access to education for bright and deserving individuals”.
This year’s beneficiaries will be: the Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation, The Financial Women’s Association, the Foundation for the Advancement of Aboriginal Youth, The Jackie Robinson Foundation, Lime Connect, the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation, The Pathways to Education Program, and Women in Capital Markets Return to Bay Street program.
BMO says that, since the launch of the program in 2005, ,Equity Through Education has raised a total of $9.6 million, and has assisted more than 2,500 individuals through scholarships, bursaries and other educational programs.
