Mackenzie Investments launched the Mackenzie Founders Fund on Tuesday, an equity fund of funds investment solution that provides investors with equal exposure to four of Mackenzie’s longest standing and most notable funds: Mackenzie Growth Fund, Mackenzie Cundill Value Fund, Mackenzie Maxxum Dividend Fund and Mackenzie Ivy Foreign Equity Fund.

The fund gives investors easy access to seasoned management teams, all of whom have a history of stable returns with solid growth potential. Mackenzie will automatically rebalance the funds to help ensure the allocations remain within specified ranges across the four funds.

“Mackenzie Founders Fund provides investors access to four long-standing and proven investment vehicles in one simple solution,” said David Feather, president, Mackenzie Financial Services Inc. “It’s fitting that we mark our 40th anniversary in 2007 with the launch of a fund that embodies a long history of investment leadership across four distinct Mackenzie brands.”

Mackenzie Founders Fund brings together the signature fund within four unique Mackenzie brands. Each fund was selected based on its successful long-term track record as a founding fund within its respective brand and how its investment style complements the other funds. With over 100 combined years of investment management experience, the portfolio managers behind Mackenzie Founders Fund have proven track records and are highly recognized in the investment industry.

– The Mackenzie Growth Fund was established in 1967 and was Mackenzie’s first mutual fund. Run by award-winning manager Fred Sturm and his team, this fund invests in themes and sectors from around the world offering quality, growth and value. Now invests up to 49% of its assets outside of Canada.

– The Mackenzie Cundill Value Fund was established in 1974 along with the founding of the Cundill Funds organization. Run by renowned value manager Peter Cundill and his team, the fund seeks long-term growth from undervalued investments across the globe.

– The Mackenzie Maxxum Dividend Fund was established in 1986 among the original group of funds under the Maxxum brand. Managed by dividend veteran Bill Procter and the Maxxum team, this Canadian dividend fund aims to generate attractive yields and capital appreciation.

– The Mackenzie Ivy Foreign Equity Fund was established in 1992 with the introduction of the Ivy Fund family. Run by veteran manager Jerry Javasky and the Ivy team, the fund invests in select, high-calibre, multi-national companies around the world.

Mackenzie senior vice president Karen Bleasby will be responsible for the oversight of the fund. The fund will be rebalanced using daily cash flows, but Bleasby will also have the option to manually rebalance the portfolio if necessary. Bleasby’s participation on this fund maintains the alignment of Mackenzie’s multi-managed products under the direction of a single oversight team.

The fund may be suitable for investors with a medium tolerance for risk who seek long-term capital growth.
