Toronto-based Middlefield Group announced late Monday that will scrap service fees for several of its closed-end mutual funds in a move that reflects a shift away from embedded commissions as regulators consider whether to issue a sweeping ban on trailer fees.
Pathfinder Income Fund, Middlefield Can-Global REITIncome Fund, REIT INDEXPLUS Income Fundand Global Dividend Growers Income Fund will cease to pay the service fees attached to these investments as of July 1. The move will benefit unitholders as the funds will have a lower management expense ratios and more cash available for investments.
