Mackenzie Financial Corp. has made several product changes and enhancements, as part of its prospectus filing dated Nov. 19, the firm announced Friday.

Series P securities on all applicable mutual funds will now be referred to as Series F8, to better conform to generally accepted industry naming conventions and to reflect the fund’s fixed 8 percent annualized distribution. Series F securities for the applicable mutual funds are available to investors who are enrolled in a dealer sponsored fee-for-service or wrap program.

The name of the Mackenzie Sentinel Canadian Managed Yield Class has been changed to Mackenzie Sentinel Canadian Short-Term Yield Class to signify a change in its investment objective, approved by investors in September 2008, which is now to provide tax-efficient returns similar to those of a Canadian money market fund managed by Mackenzie.

For investors who have U.S. dollar cash balances, Mackenzie is launching the Mackenzie Sentinel U.S. Short-Term Yield Class, a new fund whose investment objective is to provide tax-efficient returns similar to those of a U.S. money market fund managed by Mackenzie. In conjunction with the launch of this fund, Mackenzie Sentinel U.S. Managed Yield Class will be closed to new purchases on Dec, 31.

Mackenzie Universal U.S. Emerging Growth Class can now invest up to 20% of its investment portfolio outside the United States. This change will allow the fund to take advantage of attractive opportunities which fit the fund’s growth-oriented investment criteria, but whose securities are listed in international markets.

Effective Dec. 31, AllianceBernstein will cease to be a sub-advisor on the Mackenzie Focus Japan Class. The fund will continue to be managed by existing portfolio managers.

Mackenzie Destination+2015, Destination+2017 and Destination+2020 will close to new purchases on Dec. 31. Each of these funds was transitioned to the “Destination+ Protected Portfolio” (Destination+2015 on October 6, 2008; Destination+2017 and Destination+2020 on Oct. 27, 2008). The Protected Portfolio consists entirely of fixed income investments, including provincial and corporate bonds and cash equivalents. Investors who purchase units prior to the closing date will be eligible to receive the applicable funds high water mark, if they remain invested until the applicable fund’s maturity date.
