Mackenzie Financial Corp. today added an income trust fund to its roster that offers investors up to 100% access to the Canadian income trust sector.
The Mackenzie Sentinel Income Trust Fund will invest in core positions in each income trust sector, including Canadian income trusts, business trusts, royalty and resource trusts, real estate investment trusts, utilities and infrastructure trusts, plus limited partnerships with investment objectives of producing income from similar business sectors.
It will have a value bias, and look for companies with high operational stability, positive cash flows, and moderate payout ratios.
The fund will distribute income monthly. Any capital gains will be distributed annually in December.
“The income trust asset class is here to stay and is an excellent component for people seeking monthly income,” said David Feather, president, Mackenzie Financial Services Inc, in a release. “We want to make sure we’re offering the full range of income options available to Canadians, and adding the Mackenzie Sentinel Income Trust Fund to our already comprehensive Sentinel income brand helps us achieve that.”

He currently co-manages Sentinel Corporate Bond Fund and Sentinel High Income Fund, which have held a mix of income trust and fixed income securities for several years.
