Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc. has launched a retirement planning service to educate group pension plan members, the company announced on Tuesday.
Entitled ‘Your Interactive Virtual Guide,’ the service on Industrial Alliance’s Web site features video clips and interactive elements on retirement planning.
The segments set out three steps for members to plan their retirement and enroll in their plan. Interactive tools are integrated into the segments to guide members in the necessary decisions to make in order to reach their retirement objectives.
Specifically, the guide helps members evaluate the amount they need to save every year, and assists then in choosing investments.
“The important thing for us is to make members familiar with their plan,” said Lucie Lachance, director of actuarial and marketing services in group pensions. “By expanding access to information, we hope to educate a greater number of members about the importance of long-term retirement planning, and we’d like to help them make enlightened decisions.”
The guide could also help pension plan administrators present a plan to their employees who work in distant or hard-to-reach locations, or to new employees.
It is also offered to members who are already enrolled in a pension plan, who can use it to occasionally review their retirement savings strategy so that it follows the evolution of their personal situation.
