With RRSP season fast approaching, The Investment Funds Institute of Canada has created available on CD-ROM, titled “Your Guide to Investing in Mutual Funds”. This tool aims to help educate novice investors about mutual funds and investing strategies in a user-friendly and fun format.
“Investors will find it to be a useful complement to the information they receive from their financial advisor, in an entertaining format that takes advantage of today’s technology,” said Tom Hockin, IFIC president and CEO, in a news release.
The CD-ROM features six modules, each of which focuses on various aspects of mutual funds and investing:
- Savings and Investment;
- About Mutual Funds;
- Why Invest in Mutual Funds;
- Before You Invest;
- How to Buy Mutual Funds; and
- Managing Your Investments.
The tool is available in both English and French. In addition, there are links to IFIC Members’ web sites, a glossary of terms, and fact sheets and frequently-asked-questions that are available for those investors looking for more specific and detailed information on a given topic.
The CD-ROM will be distributed to investors through IFIC members and directly through the Institute.
