Michel Fragasso, senior vice president with Norbourg Gestion d’actifs, has been named as chairman of the Investment Funds Institute of Canada.

Fragasso founded and directed Impotech in 1976, a company specializing in financial advice and the preparation of tax returns until 1987. He also taught finance and marketing management courses at several local universities and colleges. From 1987 to 1989, Fragasso served on the Board of the Fédération des caisses populaires Desjardins de Québec working directly with then Quebec Minister of Revenue, Yves Séguin. In 1989, Mr. Fragasso was appointed director of the Cooperation and Communication Division.

Fragasso founded Groupe Financier Concorde in 1991 and subsequently Capital Teraxis, of which he was president until he sold the company to Norbourg Gestion d’actifs earlier this year.

A native of Quebec City, Fragasso was instrumental in the creation of the Quebec Investment Funds Council and the recently established support office of the International Investment Funds Association. A member of the IFIC board of directors since 1996, Fragasso also serves on the Board of Directors of FundSERV Inc.
