Fidelity Investments Canada Ltd. is now offering Fidelity American Value Fund, a U.S. equity fund managed with a disciplined value approach to investing.
“Over the last few years, the biggest lesson investors have learned is the benefits of diversification — diversification by sector, capitalization and style. Fidelity American Value Fund offers a valuable element of style diversification to complement growth-oriented investments throughout all market cycles,” said Wilfred Vos, vice president of product development.
Fidelity Value Fund, a value style fund available to U.S. investors, was launched in 1978. The Fidelity American Value Fund will employ the same investing approach — bottom-up stock picking that leverages the expertise of the organization’s vast global research capabilities, including 600 analysts and portfolio managers around the world.
The portfolio manager on Fidelity American Value Fund is Robert Chow, a 13-year Fidelity veteran. Chow currently manages Fidelity Advisor Equity Income Fund, a conservative, value-style fund available for U.S. investors. He has managed the fund since March 1996.
Chow focuses on limiting downside risk and volatility. He leverages the findings of approximately 70 sector-focused research professionals in the U.S., to uncover opportunities in financial services, consumer, technology, communications and utilities, natural resources, cyclical and health care sectors.
The fund can invest in securities covering all market capitalizations, but Chow must deem it to be undervalued relative to factors such as the company’s assets, sales, earnings, growth potential, or cash flow, or in relation to securities of other companies in the same industry.
