CI Investments Inc. has launched a new fund designed to provide investors with exposure to gold bullion, gold-related equities and other precious metals through a tax-efficient corporate class structure.
Signature Gold Corporate Class provides a secure alternative for investors seeking to hold gold for long-term capital growth. It will invest primarily, directly or indirectly, in gold and equity securities that provide exposure to gold. It may also invest, directly or indirectly, in silver, platinum and palladium.
“For investors seeking a fund dedicated to gold, Signature Gold Corporate Class provides the benefit of a significant investment in physical holdings of gold bullion,” said Derek Green, CI president. “Signature Gold Corporate Class also provides additional diversification opportunities for investors, particularly within CI Corporate Class, which offers significant tax advantages.”
Tax benefits provided by CI Corporate Class include the ability to switch between share classes, or funds, within the corporation without triggering capital gains or losses. Capital gains or losses are deferred until the investment is redeemed from the corporate structure.
The Signature Gold Corporate Class portfolio is managed by Signature Global Advisors, a division of CI that manages approximately $26 billion in income, equity and balanced mandates.
Lead portfolio manager of the fund is Scott Vali, who is also lead manager of Signature Global Energy Corporate Class and Signature Canadian Resource Fund.
