Toronto-based CI Investments Inc. Thursday announced the launch of two funds to meet the needs of income-seeking investors: Cambridge Income Fund and Signature High Yield Bond Fund.

Cambridge Income Fund seeks to achieve returns through exposure to a mix of fixed-income and higher-yielding equity securities, and Signature High Yield Bond Fund focuses on gaining exposure to high-yield corporate bonds. Both funds pay a regular monthly distribution.

“These funds are designed to meet the needs of income-seeking investors, while providing the benefits of expert portfolio management, a diversified approach that reduces risk and active management of foreign currency exposure,” says Derek Green, CI president.

The lead portfolio manager of Cambridge Income Fund is Robert Swanson of CI’s Cambridge Advisors team. Swanson has 27 years of investment experience, including positions as lead manager of Canadian and global equity, income and balanced portfolios.

“The Cambridge Advisors team has achieved strong results since the group was founded in 2008 and we are pleased to add this diversified income fund to the Cambridge lineup,” says Green.

Geof Marshall of CI’s Signature Global Advisors team is the lead portfolio manager of Signature High Yield Bond Fund. Marshall and the Signature team have extensive experience in this sector, currently managing over $5 billion in high-yield corporate bonds held in various CI funds — one of the largest such portfolios in Canada.

The funds are also available in CI Corporate Class versions as Cambridge Income Corporate Class and Signature High Yield Bond Corporate Class, respectively. These funds do not pay monthly distributions but offer the tax advantages of the CI Corporate Class structure.
