With the imminent closing of CC&L Market Neutral Fund to all new investments as of April 11, Toronto-based Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group is launching two more of its institutional alternative investment strategies to the individual investor market.
CC&L Diversified Market Neutral Fund and CC&L Absolute Return Fund will be distributed through IIROC dealers.
By launching these funds, CC&L says it is providing investment advisors and their high net worth clients with two investment strategies with different risk/return profiles.
Each portfolio has a proven institutional track record of delivering attractive risk-adjusted returns with low correlation to equity markets, the firm says.
CC&L Diversified Market Neutral Fund targets net returns and risk of six to eight per cent with no correlation to equity markets. The fund invests in three distinct and complementary market neutral strategies managed by CC&L Investment Management Ltd.: global equity market neutral, managed using a quantitative approach; Canadian small and mid-cap equity market neutral, managed using a fundamental approach; and fixed income market neutral, managed using a fundamental approach
CC&L Absolute Return Fund targets net returns and risk of approximately 12 per cent to 15 per cent with low correlation to equity markets. The fund was originally created for partners and employees of CC&L as an investment solution that targets equity market risk, and better than equity market returns. In addition to the three market neutral strategies used by CC&L Diversified Market Neutral Fund, the fund also includes an allocation to the global capital markets, including: global stocks, global bonds, and commodities.
