BMO Asset Management Inc. plans to terminate two energy ETFs and one value index ETF, effective Dec. 15, 2020.

The BMO Junior Gas Index ETF, BMO Junior Oil Index ETF and BMO MSCI EAFE Value Index ETF will accept no further investments and will be delisted from the Toronto Stock Exchange on or about Dec. 10, according to a release.

Once the funds are terminated, remaining unitholders won’t be able to exchange or redeem units. Cash values will be distributed “pro rata among each fund’s respective unitholders based on the net asset value per unit of each fund.”

“We continually review our product shelf to ensure we are offering ETFs that are relevant to the market. The market environment has been challenging for both energy and value exposures,” said Mark Raes, head of product, BMO Global Asset Management Canada, in an emailed statement.
