Steve Carlin has been appointed senior vice-president and head of equities at AEGON Capital Management Inc., the company announced on Monday.
Carlin has worked in the industry for 25 years. Prior to joining AEGON, he spent nine years working at KBSH Capital Management Inc. where he specialized in Canadian equity management.
“We were looking for an equity manager whose approach matched ours. We chose Steve for his growth strategy and sell discipline. His growth-oriented style with a keen eye on downside management is consistent with the philosophy that has seen our assets grow to over $9 billion,” said Greg Ross, president and CEO at AEGON.
Carlin will oversee all of AEGON Capital Management’s institutional and discretionary equity management and retail investments, including imaxx Canadian Balanced, imaxx Canadian Equity, imaxx Canadian Dividend, imaxx Canadian Fixed Pay and imaxx Canadian Small Cap Funds offered by AEGON Fund Management Inc., and the corresponding segregated fund and Universal Life products offered by Transamerica Life Canada.
“This is good news for the individual investor,” Ross said, noting that retail investors will have access to the services of a proven institutional money manager through their advisors.
