The members of Advocis, The Financial Advisors Association of Canada, elected a new slate of directors for their board for 2010 at their annual general meeting held in Toronto on November 30.
Leading the organization will be Terry Zavitz, B.Mus.A, CFP, CLU, RHU, EPC, GBA, who will take on the position of chair of the board of directors.
“Advocis is an association about which I am very passionate. I am honoured to be asked to lead this group of exceptional and committed volunteers,” said Zavitz. “I know that this coming year will not be a cakewalk as the organization will be experiencing an unprecedented evolution; but I go into it knowing that my board colleagues are ready to provide the necessary leadership to make it happen.”
Zavitz has been a member of Advocis for more than 25 years. In that time, she has assumed a number of critical leadership roles, including chair of the national membership task force and vice chair of the board of directors. She is also an active member of her community having committed countless volunteer hours to her London, Ontario community.
Zavitz’s practice focuses on life and group insurance benefits but her real passion and expertise is in living benefits. She is an often-sought speaker on this topic at national and international financial services industry events. She has been awarded the Woman of Distinction honour for business and trade by the YM/YWCA. In 2009, she was also presented with Great West Life’s Hopwood award honoring her dedication to her clients and her community.
