Mike Willemse is joining the investment management team of Taylor Asset Management Inc., the Toronto-based firm said Thursday.
Willemse will work alongside David Taylor, president and CEO, as senior research analyst.
“It’s my goal to build a first class asset management firm and Mike is an important step towards achieving that. He is an outstanding analyst and is highly regarded for his work on the sell side,” said Taylor in a release.
Willemse has 12 years of experience in the finance industry and has been recognized as a top ranked equity analyst for industrial products, auto components and alternative energy. Previously, he was the lead industrials analyst at CIBC World Markets from 2006 until 2012.
He is the recipient of several awards, including Starmine Awards in 2010 and 2009 (for top stock picking in 2009 and 2008). From 2004 until 2006, he was a research associate for the industrials sector. As a “sell-side” analyst, he covered diversified industrials, with a particular emphasis on steel, automotive, aerospace and alternative energy.
