Wellington West Capital Markets has named Neil Sivertson as managing director U.S. equity sales and director of agriculture. Sivertson will be based in Chicago, providing Wellington West with a foray into the United States market.

“Neil’s credentials combined with his presence in the U.S. Midwest gives us a major advantage in the agriculture sector,” said Greg Thompson, president, Wellington West Capital Markets Inc. “Agriculture is increasingly providing attractive investment opportunities due to surging protein demand in Asia, low global grain inventories and supply constraints.”

Sivertson joins Wellington West from Blackmont Capital and has 14 years of industry experience in institutional equity sales with account coverage in the U.S. as well as Canada. Originally from Manitoba, Sivertson has lived and worked in the Chicago market for the past 10 years.

“Agriculture is an increasingly important component of the capital markets and will be one of our core areas of expertise,” said Sivertson. “I’m excited to be building this platform and joining a team with an excellent reputation and a great entrepreneurial culture.”

“Wellington West is growing exponentially, adding new partners in all our divisions,” said Kish Kapoor, president, Wellington West Holdings Inc.

Wellington West Capital Markets, based in Toronto, is a division of Wellington West Holdings Inc., an employee-owned independent investment firm.
