Dashu (Jack) Zhu is the new president and CEO of Wealth One Bank of Canada (WOBC), the Toronto-based bank announced on Thursday.
Most recently, Zhu was CEO of Nagelmackers Bank in Belgium. Previously, he served as division head at the head office of Bank of China in Beijing, president and CEO of the Bank of China (Canada) and as executive vice president and chairman of the supervisory board of the Jiangsu Bank of China.
As the head of Bank of China (Canada), Zhu oversaw that bank’s significant growth in its retail service network within the Canadian Chinese community. He led the development of the bank’s overall businesses, including its retail and commercial lending businesses.
“WOBC was established by a number of successful entrepreneurs from the Canadian Chinese community and it is focused initially on serving Canadian Chinese communities in Ontario and British Columbia. Canadian has a large and growing Chinese community that is making important contributions to the economic well-being of the country, Zhu says, in a statement.
“Chinese Canadians have a significant need for banking services. WOBC is extremely well positioned to understand the needs of our customers, actively innovates products and services, and cooperates with other financial institutions to become the preferred Bank for the Chinese community.”
Marianne Taggio served as interim president and CEO before Zhu; she joins the board as chairwoman of the bank’s strategy committee.
