Toronto-based Sun Life Financial Inc. announced on Friday that Léo Grépin will serve as the next president of Sun Life Asia.
Grépin will assume the role on Dec. 31, following the retirement of Sun Life Asia’s current president, Claude Accum.
As president, Grépin will oversee the life, health and wealth-management businesses in the Philippines, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and India, as well as the international high net-worth business, Sun Life said in a release.
Grépin, who brings 20 years of experience to the role, was appointed president of Sun Life’s ASEAN businesses in April 2019. Prior to that, he served as senior vice president, individual insurance and wealth for Sun Life Canada.
“Léo has been a driving force in the modernization of our retail business in Canada,” Dean Connor, president and CEO of Sun Life Financial, said in a statement. “I am confident he has the experience, deep understanding and client-focus to lead and build our business in these dynamic Asian markets.”
