Quebec City-based iA Financial Group has appointed Stephan Bourbonnais to lead its wealth management division.
Bourbonnais, who joined the firm as president of iA Private Wealth in 2021, is replacing Sean O’Brien as iA Financial Group’s executive vice-president, wealth management. O’Brien became the firm’s executive vice-president, group benefits and retirement solutions, on Jan. 1.
In his new role, Bourbonnais will be responsible for the firm’s wealth management growth strategy, overseeing iA Clarington Investments, Investia Financial Services, iA Capital Markets and iA Private Wealth, working closely with the company presidents.
He’ll remain president of iA Private Wealth in the interim while looking for a successor and defining the scope of their role, he said in a statement.
“Together, we will remain highly focused at iA Private Wealth on strengthening our position as a leading independent choice for entrepreneurial-minded advisors,” he said.
Bourbonnais will also be a member of iA Financial Group’s executive committee.
Before joining iA in 2021, Bourbonnais held senior roles with TD Private Wealth Management and National Bank Private Wealth Management.
He became president of iA Private Wealth soon after the iA Securities and HollisWealth platforms united, saying he wanted advisor teams to remain focused on offering niche, tailored services to their individual clients. iA bought HollisWealth from Bank of Nova Scotia in 2017.
iA reported assets under management and administration of $196.2 billion as of Sept. 30.
