State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) today announced the appointment of Gregory Chrispin to managing director of its business and operations in Canada.

Chrispin, a 20-year veteran who held the position of SSgA’s chief investment officer in Canada, assumes his expanded role from Carl Bang who is relocating to Paris to lead SSgA’s business in France and Spain.

Chrispin will report to Otello Sturino, chief operating officer for SSgA worldwide including oversight for SSgA’s business in Canada.

SSgAis the largest institutional asset manager worldwide. In Canada, it provides full investment management and client services from offices in Montreal and Toronto. It is also a leader in the management of Canadian pension fund assets.

During Chrispin’s career with SSgA, he has held positions of increasing responsibility within SSgA’s portfolio management group. Most recently, as chief investment officer in Canada, he has overseen the introduction of several new active investment strategies in fixed income, currencies, equities and portable alpha. Previously, Chrispin directed SSgA’s global structured products group in Canada.

SSgA also announced the appointment of Peter Lindley as vice president and head of Investments in Canada. Lindley joined SSgA in 2005 and has twenty years of experience in the fixed income and derivatives markets. He most recently served as a senior portfolio manager on the fixed income team, having served as head of fixed income trading at Desjardins Securities in Montreal and as co-jead of Global Markets for Deutsche Bank Canada in Toronto.

SSgA has also named Andrea Leeming vice president and head of Human Resources. Leeming possesses over 20 years of HR experience within a variety of global organizations.

Bob Weston, national director of marketing for client service and consultant relations will continue to lead the sales and relationship management teams, reporting to Chrispin.

In his role as managing director for SSgA in Canada, Chrispin will continue to work with J-F Courville, president of State Street Canada to execute our Canadian business strategy.
