State Street Corp. today named Jean-François Courville as the new head of State Street Canada.
In this new role, Courville will be responsible for the development and execution of key strategies working across State Street’s investment management, investment servicing and global markets businesses in Canada. Courville will also oversee client management and regulatory matters.
Courville will report jointly to Jay Hooley, executive vice president and head of global investor services for State Street, and the State Street Canada Board.
“As State Street expands its presence worldwide, it is important that we continue to provide enhanced and streamlined offerings to our customers,” said Hooley. “With J-F spearheading this effort in Canada, an extremely important market for State Street, we are confident that we will continue our strong track record of success.”
Courville joined State Street in 1996 to establish a currency sales and risk management operation in Montreal. In 2000, he assumed responsibility for the Canadian operation of State Street Global Markets, the investment research and trading arm of State Street.
Most recently, Courville was Global Head of Account Development for State Street Global Markets.
He holds a bachelor of commerce degree in finance and international business from McGill University in Montreal and also holds a CFA designation.
State Street has more than 700 employees in offices located in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.
The firm provides institutional investors with investment servicing, investment management and investment research and trading.
