State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) today announced the appointment of Dawn Jia to head of the active and enhanced equity team for its business in Canada.

Jia joins SSgA from Barclays Global Investors in Toronto, where she was a portfolio manager of active Canadian equity strategies. She will report to Peter Lindley, head of Investments at SSgA in Canada.

Managing a team of three portfolio managers and collaborating closely with SSgA’s quantitative research group — the Advanced Research Center– Jia will oversee research, portfolio management and product development of quantitative active, enhanced and market-neutral strategies for the Canadian market.

Jia has held various portfolio management and quantitative research for more than 10 years. Prior to BGI, she was director of quantitative equity strategy at CIBC World Markets in Toronto. She holds a Master of Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and both a Bachelor and Master of Engineering from Tianjin University in China. She has also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
