Starlight Investments Capital LP (Starlight Capital), a subsidiary of Toronto-based real estate investment firm Starlight Investments, has expanded its portfolio management team, the company announced Tuesday.

Starlight Capital has added two new investment managers to its roster, Varun Anand and Michelle Wearing.

Anand, portfolio manager, has more than eight years of industry experience, mostly focused on managing publicly listed, global infrastructure investments. He joins Starlight Capital from CI Signature, where the infrastructure team oversaw more than $5 billion in securities. Prior to CI Signature, he was a senior research analyst at Sentry Investments. Anand holds a bachelor of mathematics and business administration from the University of Waterloo and the chartered financial analyst designation.

Wearing, associate portfolio manager, has over nine years of business experience, primarily in real estate. Wearing joins Starlight Capital from TD Securities Inc., where she served as an equity research associate covering Canadian REITs and real estate operating companies. Prior to TD, she was a manager in valuations at KPMG LLP. Wearing is a chartered professional accountant and chartered business valuator. She holds a bachelor of commerce from Queen’s University.

“We’re pleased to welcome two exceptional professionals to Starlight Capital. Michelle and Varun have extensive industry knowledge and deep strategic partnerships within their respective sectors. With their addition, we continue to build a team to deliver on our goal of providing investors with superior risk-adjusted, long-term returns,” Dennis Mitchell, Starlight’s CEO and chief investment officer, says in a statement.

Anand will work on the Starlight Global Infrastructure Fund and Wearing will focus on the Starlight Global Real Estate Fund.
