Sheila Murray, president of Toronto-based CI Financial Corp. has decided to retire effective March 31, 2019, the independent asset-management and wealth-management firm announced Monday.
She will remain a member of the board of directors of CI following her retirement.
In addition to his current role as CEO, Peter Anderson will be appointed president of CI effective upon Murray’s departure, the company says in a news release.
“Sheila has been instrumental to the fabric of CI since joining the company in 2008 as general counsel. She has been key to every strategic decision at the company since she arrived,” says Anderson in a statement.
Murray was named president in 2016 and assumed responsibility for operations, information technology and human resources, in addition to legal and compliance.
“Her energy and drive have been instrumental to the success of CI. I want to thank Sheila for her endless support and guidance and look forward to her continuing counsel as a member of the CI board,” adds Anderson.
CI Financial’s primary operating businesses are CI Investments Inc., Assante Wealth Management (Canada) Ltd., CI Private Counsel LP, Grant Samuel Funds Management Pty Ltd. of Australia, First Asset Investment Management Inc., and BBS Securities Inc.
