Oaks, Penn.-based SEI Investments Co.’s Canadian division has named new directors to the company’s asset-management distribution unit and institutional sales unit.
Michael Theodor has been appointed director of business development for the asset-management distribution unit within the firm’s Toronto-based Canadian operations. His responsibilities include managing that department’s strategic relationships and its team of regional sales associates, according to the firm’s announcement released on Monday.
Theodor joins SEI from Toronto-based Manulife Asset Management Ltd., at which he was managing director of institutional investments.
“Michael’s background in the industry will prove invaluable in growing client relationships within SEI’s asset-management distribution unit,” says Andy Mitchell, managing director and head for asset-management distribution in Canada, in a statement. “SEI aims to offer innovative, client-centric, goals-based solutions to advisors and investors, and Michael’s appointment will be critical to the growth and expansion of our team.”
SEI’s Canadian office has also welcomed Tom Reimer as director of institutional sales for the company’s institutional group. Reimer will be responsible for business development within the Canadian marketplace, and management of SEI’s delegated investment solutions for defined-benefit, defined-contribution, endowment, multi-employer and non-profit clients.
Reimer has been in the financial services sector for more than 25 years. His institutional experience includes 10 years as national director of institutional services with Brandes Investment Partners LP, whose Canadian office is based in Toronto.
“We are pleased to add someone with Tom’s background and expertise in helping institutional investors implement solutions that best fit their needs and objectives,” says Paul Klauder, executive vice president of SEI and head of the institutional group, in the statement. “He will play an integral role in supporting and growing SEI’s institutional outsourcing business in Canada.”
