Independent Financial Brokers of Canada (IFB) has elected Scott Findlay, principal of Abbotsford, B.C.-based Valley-Wide Financial Corp., as president and chairman of the association. Findlay’s new role is currently in effect.

Findlay, a financial services industry veteran with more than 24 years of experience, will replace outgoing chairman and president John Dargie, a broker consultant at Kitchener, Ont.-based Financial Horizons Inc., according to an announcement released Wednesday.

The IFB also announced that George Biggar of Fonthill, Ont.-based Biggar Wealth Management, will act as vice-chairman of the board; Marie-José Comtois of Health Source Plus Inc. in Montreal has been re-elected to the position of treasurer; and Glenn Freeland of Aurora Capital Partners Inc. in Strathmore, Alberta will serve as chairman of the IFB’s nominating committee.
