Bank of Nova Scotia today announced that Robin Hibberd has been appointed executive vp, domestic personal lending and insurance, and president and CEO, Scotia Mortgage Corp. He is responsible for the Domestic business units that comprise consumer lending, including mortgages, credit cards, personal loans and insurance, as well as credit risk management and integrated business solutions.

Hibberd begins his new position on July 4, reporting to Chris Hodgson, executive vp and head of domestic personal banking.

A 20-year Scotiabank veteran, Hibberd is currently serving as senior vp, corporate development. Prior to that, he was senior vp, Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong. Hibberd’s overseas service built upon six years experience in positions of increasing responsibility in Domestic Personal Banking. He replaces Jane Rowe, who is taking a one-year leave of absence and it is anticipated that she will return to a new role next year.

“Robin has demonstrated tremendous leadership qualities during his career at Scotiabank — both overseas and with the Domestic Bank,” Hodgson said, in a news release. “I also want to wish Jane well during her leave of absence and thank her for her contribution to the Domestic Personal Banking team.”

Hibberd is a Chartered Accountant and has a Masters in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario.
