Sarbit Asset Management Inc. today announced today the hiring of Nestor Theodorou as executive vp and portfolio manager – fixed income.

Theodorou brings over 16 years’ experience in fixed income securities. He began his career with Canada Life Assurance as a fixed income analyst. From there, he went on to work for Burns Fry (now BMO Nesbitt Burns) where he managed the ABS/MBS trading desk. Under his tenure (1996 – 1999), his trading desk accounted for approximately 25% of total market share of ABS/MBS trading in Canada. He then went on to become the director of fixed income for Assante Asset Management where he developed and implemented quantitative based investment strategies for fixed income.

Most recently, Theodorou was portfolio manager – fixed income for Investor’s Group, managing or co-managing close to $6 billion in fixed income assets for Investor’s Group. He has a Bachelor of Science (Civil Engineering) and attained his MBA from York University in 1990 (Major in Finance). He is also a CFA Charterholder.

Commenting on the appointment Larry Sarbit, president and CEO of Sarbit Asset Management Inc., said, “Fixed Income will play a larger and larger role in people’s portfolios as the baby boomers are now hitting the age of retirement. We are extremely fortunate to hire someone of Nestor’s pedigree to run fixed income at Sarbit.”

Sarbit plans on launching two fixed income funds under the stewardship of Theodorou in September 2006.
