UBS Securities Canada reports that Onno Rutten will be joining the firm’s mining research team as an analyst.
Rutten comes to UBS from a position as an analyst at Scotia Capital, and has a M.Sc in Mining and Petroleum Engineering from Delft University in the Netherlands as well as an MBA from INSEAD in France. Prior to becoming a financial analyst, Rutten worked for Hatch Associates for six years as a process engineer and project manager.
At UBS, Rutten’s coverage universe is expected to focus primarily on nickel, platinum and silver companies.
UBS now has seven employees on its Canadian mining research team (four analysts and three associates). The existing team currently has 38 companies under coverage and this is expected to increase to over 50 in the medium-term.
