Market Regulation Services Inc. has hired Rosemary Chan as vice-president market policy and general counsel.

Chan will be responsible for all activities in the policy area, including a strategic review of the Universal Market Integrity Rules. She will also be a member of RS’s senior management team and report directly to Tom Atkinson, president and CEO of RS.

Her focus will be to ensure the trading rules and policies meet current needs, address market changes and deal with emerging issues in a timely fashion. To this point, she will also direct the work of the rules advisory committee, a group of industry trading experts who make sure proposed rule and policy changes adequately address market integrity concerns, are in the public interest, and are also practicable and cost-efficient.

Chan, who was called to the Ontario Bar in 1990, will also act as RS’s
general counsel and corporate secretary.
