Quebec’s Institut québécois de planification financière (IQPF) has elected Nathalie Bachand as chairwoman of the board of directors for the 2014-2015 term. She succeeds past chairman Yves Giroux.
The IQPF represents planners who have obtained a legislatively required diploma (Pl. Fin.) to practice financial planning in Quebec.
Bachand has been involved with the IQPF for over 15 years. She has participated fully in the development of the financial planning profession, particularly in the area of retirement.
She was a member of the IQPF professional development committee from 1997 to 2011 and was president of the committee for the 2010-2011 term.
Bachand has been a member of the IQPF board of directors since 2010 and served as vice president from 2012 to 2014.
“A financial planner since 1996, Nathalie Bachand has extensive expertise in the area of pensions and financial planning,” the IQPF said in statement.
Bachand has worked in the field of pension consulting and financial planning for over twenty years. She began her career with a consulting benefits firm and then served as a director of financial planning at a financial institution. In 2002, she started her own practice in financial planning and in 2009 she founded the Lafleur Bachand consulting group.
In an interview with Finance et Investissement, she said that the IQPF will be more focused on helping financial planners in their relationships with customers.
