FP Canada announced on Tuesday its award of merit recipients for the May sitting of the Qualified Associate Financial Planner exam.

Michael Liu, Scott Braun and Nathan Phillips achieved the three highest marks on the exam.

Liu, the top scorer, has been with RBC since 2017. He began as a banking advisor intern and now works as an investment specialist.

Braun, who achieved the second-highest mark, has been with BMO Financial Group for 13 years. He started as a personal banker and is now vice-president of financial planning for the Winnipeg market.

And Phillips, who has been with CIBC since 2016, is a financial advisor with the bank’s Imperial Service division in Orleans, Ont.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Michael, Scott and Nathan for their stellar performance on the QAFP exam,” said Tashia Batstone, FP Canada’s president and CEO, in a release. “We are proud to have them as part of this profession and we wish all three QAFP Exam Award of Merit recipients the very best in their future endeavours.”

The next two QAFP exams will be held on Oct. 13 and Feb. 1, 2022. Exams will be offered both in person and online via remote proctoring.
